Litter Clean-up on Town Mountain Road
There is nothing quite so unsightly as the discarded bags, cans, bottles and fast food containers that seem to multiply along our beautiful Town Mountain Road. FoTM is interested in starting an ongoing clean-up along TMR.
A number of our residents (including Betsy and myself) make it a habit to carry bags and do a pick-up when we walk along TMR. What if residents were to adopt sections of TMR, pledging to walk their section once every week or two and remove the litter. As many of us already walk with or without a dog, it would be easy to keep TMR litter free and looking good.

Litter Clean-up on TMR
Great idea, Al. Frances and I frequently pick up the one mile stretch from Craven Gap back south to our subdivision. May I further suggest the following:
1. That there be two "official" pickups each year, spring and fall. in addition to spontaneous clean-ups by those who sign up.
2. That we reward folks efforts by having a rotating, pot luck brunch at someone's home each time we do it which provides a nice social to meet new people and further bond the residents of Town Mountain..
3. That owing to the fact that TMR is only about seven miles long, it can be segmented into many small sections thereby getting more folks involved and making the task less arduous for each participant.
From past experience, I've learned that you can obtain orange vests and orange trash bags from DOT if you adopt a section. Maybe FoTM could adopt the whole road or at least those sections not already adopted.
Thanks for your iniative.
