Motorcycle/Safety

We've all been subjected to the unsafe conditions created by certain of the "performance" motocyclists who frequent TMR nearly every day (mostly evenings), using it as their personal race course.
I'm not busting on all motorcyclists. There are those that obey the posted speed limits and I have no problem with them. It's the other high speed, high noise, aggressive types that need to be made customers of Asheville Police Dept., the Buncombe County Sherif's Dept. and/or N.C. Highway Patrol. Recently my wife made me aware of a video posting evidently done by one of these violators.

I forwarded this link to the above enforcement agencies and it seemed (finally) to underscore the need for immediate action, spurring increased patrols in recent weeks, particularly by APD, in a visible effort to crack down on the offenders. While this effort has made a difference and at least temporarily reduced the number of speeders, it hasn't eliminated the problem and I am concerned that city - county traffic enforcement may not continue the effort needed to eliminate the problem. Cunning and creativity is needed from enforcement as the motorcyclists will easily learn the TMR patrol patterns as well as monitoring locations (if they are repeated predictably) altering their runs accordingly. Therefore it is up to us to continue to convey to law enforcement any information that may be of value to them to efficiently use their time with the goal of completely stopping performance racing on TMR. I will post additional information to this blog soon in hopes it may be of value to those who also wish to put a stop to this unsafe racing nonsense.
