Car connections with internet
Even though it may sound weird, Subaru and Ford have both decided to
connect their vehicles to the internet. The 2011 Subaru Outback can
have a built-in Wi-Fi option. Ford test-drove an "automatic tweeting"
automobile codenamed AJ. Driving habits might be something that
automobile makers hope individuals will want as part of their connected
lifestyle. Post resource - Connecting
your car with the Internet by Car Deal Expert.
Wi-Fi for Subaru
The 2011 Subaru Outback may have the option of Wi-Fi connection if
you're interested. Anything that stays within 150 feet of the car will
be able to connect to the internet. Setup is $499 with a $35 activation
fee. One year of subscription will cost $29 a month. At first, the cost
seems high. However, new apps on smartphones that allow calls via Wi-Fi
combined with the high cost of unlimited data plans through cellular
carriers means that it could actually conserve customers money.
Twitter automatic
In May, code name AJ, which is the 2011 Ford Fiesta, was tested by a
Ford team. AJ the car automatically tweeted, using information from the
car's computers. Examples of Tweets consist of "time to put the
headlights on.". These Twitter posts are created by GPS data and
traffic details combined with the internet. FourSquare had check in
functions tested by the team also. For 2012, the Ford Fiesta might have
these as standard features.
Internet in cars a good idea?
Despite the fact that it may seem fun and excited to have cars with
internet in them, is it really a good idea. The possibility of car
viruses combined with Internet connectivity is worrying. There are also
privacy concerns with cars automatically broadcasting where they are
and what their drivers are up to. Internet-connected cars, within the
end, are one more tool that will likely end up being misused by some,
abused by others and very useful to most.
